Full course description
Instructor: Randy Wahlen, Utah LTAP
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming a valuable everyday tool for public works agencies. This introductory, hands-on workshop is designed specifically for city and county public works employees who want to learn how AI can help them work more efficiently, improve documentation, and streamline daily tasks. Participants will learn what AI can and cannot do, how to ask effective questions, and how to apply AI to real-world public works scenarios.
Through practical demonstrations and guided exercises, attendees will use AI to research MUTCD requirements, develop safety meeting agendas, create equipment inspection checklists, draft public works documents, and more. By the end of this workshop, participants will leave with practical skills they can immediately apply to their job—helping them save time, reduce errors, and enhance service to their community.
